DUKE & SHEBA
I have the best dogs. Hands down, they are my heros.
About 2:30 this am, the dogs all started throwing a fit. Bad fits. I grabbed a gun and started looking around outside. I could see an odd looking light flashing in the ditch down the road from my house, In Front of my pasture.
I drove down and found a woman in the ditch, battered and crying. She said her boyfriend had hot her and dumped her out.
I put her in the truck and took her home. Duke was LIVID. Normally he is loving and kind with damaged people. Not this time. He kept pushing me away from her, snarling at her like a rabid beast. I talked calmly to him bit didn't reprimand him. When I got her into the house, Sheba was the same way. She snarled and lunged at this woman.
The pasture dogs were pacing the fence and barking relentlessly, even the pups were fired up and hitting the fence. I knew something wasn't right, but at that point there wasn't much I could do. I let her take a shower, found some clothes to fit her and fed her.
Her stories didn't add up and Duke was a raving lunatic at the back door and Sheba stayed at my side every step I took, keeping herself between me and this woman. When I had a chance I sent a message to a friend who's brother is a cop. He sent the sheriff deputy out immediately.
There were warrants out for this woman for drugs and theft.
They also got her boyfriend who was on the local most wanted list.
These dogs were fine with the deputy, but not truly calm until they had taken this woman away.
I have mixed emotions. I am always compelled to help people, and I feel badly that she was beaten up, but my dogs knew things weren't right and my family and I were not safe.
I love these dogs and I am lucky to have them. They always know what is in the hearts of men....or women!

DUKE
How smart are LGD?
I took mom shopping and when we got back to my place, she loaded up her stuff and said she was heading home.
About 45 minutes later I get a call from her. "There is something wrong with one of your goats. She is down and there is something wrong"
I am like "where the heck are you mom?"
"In your yard down by the fence"
Sure enough she is sitting by the fence in her car
I tell her the goat is giving birth and she needs to back off cause she is making everyone nervous
Sissy is sitting by the birthing doe, Czaritsa is at the fence showing tooth to mom every time she moves and Duke....God love Duke.
My mom calls again and says " I can't get out of my car, Duke is leaning on the door!"
